It is made out of a long strip of paper where the images are drawn out and is put on the inner surface of a cylinder that has vertical cut slits in the sides. The reason for the slits is when the user looks through them, it keeps the pictures from blurring together and seeing rapid chains of images when the cylinder is being spun. It is important to have those slits so that it eliminates from producing too many illusion of motion that our persistence of vision cannot handle.
|
It is made out of three-dimensional models (sculptures) going around the whole cylinder so that when spun, you can see the whole set of sequenced sculptures merging into one image that will start to move and "come to life" as shown below.

Phi phenomenon
|
Based on my knowledge of phi phenomenon and our persistence of vision, adding on to the facts already discovered: What if the reason why we see illusions of still images moving has something to do with the blinds spots of our eyes? One eye has half the vision of the other eye, and both combined you have a complete set: having the ability to see more in range. Having two eyes, in spite of our peripheral vision, we can only 100% focus on one certain object in front of us, and that information is kind of similar to how the persistence of vision functions.
- Persistence of Vision: The eye averages what it sees over a short period of time
Metamorphosis
Metamorphosis is the change of state forming into something completely new from the previous transformation. Also can be known as a repeated cycle. For example the circle of life.
